Meet The Doctors
Dr. Gary Haver
Dr. Gary Haver is the founder and owner of Surfside Animal Hospital. He started working in animals hospitals at the age of 14. His career as a veterinarian started in 1996 when he graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from State University of New York at Stonybrook in 1992.
Since graduating from Ross University he has worked in New York, Maryland, and California as an associate veterinarian, medical director, a relief doctor, provided service for the county animal shelters here in San Diego, and currently co-owns Peaceful Passing, an in home pet euthanasia service. Dr. Haver currently resides in Carlsbad with his wife Dana and their 3 dogs, TJ, Mickey, Powder and Charlie the cat. In his spare time Dr. Haver enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, fishing, sailing, and martial arts.
Dr. Gary Siebert
We are excited to have Dr. Gary Siebert join our team at Surfside Animal Hospital. Dr. Siebert started practicing in Oceanside in 1986 at Mission Animal and Bird Hospital since graduating from University California Davis. Dr. Siebert lives in Carlsbad with his wife Paula, their dogs named Henry and Heidi, and his 9 rescued cats that they have graciously adopted.
The Sieberts have also rescued 6 horses that Paula cares for on their family ranch in Bonsall. In Dr. Siebert’s spare time he enjoys collecting blues and jazz music from the 20s and 30s, as well as hiking with his dogs, and collecting rocks.
Dr. Zach Zeisse
Dr. Zach Zeisse is excited to be a part of the Surfside team! Dr. Zeisse is a San Diego native and grew up in a family surrounded by pets. He received his under graduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1994. He then spent a year at the UC Davis School of Medicine in the cardiology department where he participated in research on the effects of gastrointestinal disease on cardiac function. He was accepted into the veterinary program at the University of Illinois in 1995 and was an active member in the veterinary fraternal organization.
He enjoyed spending his free time volunteering in the wildlife clinic caring for injured and orphaned wildlife. Dr. Zeisse received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1999. After graduation he moved back to the San Diego area. Dr. Zeisse currently lives in Oceanside with his wife Jenninfer and three children, Emily, Alex, and Katie. He owns a dog, a cat,, a green-cheeked conure, and a fresh water fish tank.
Dr. Paul Weber
Dr. Paul Weber is originally from Larchmont, New York. He received his BS degree in Molecular Biology at Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2009 he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University and completed his clinical rotations at the University of Florida. His past experience includes emergency medicine having worked at Emergency Hospitals in Long Beach and Temecula. His interest includes small animal surgery, radiology and emergency medicine. When not working, he spends time at the beach, riding his bike and playing video games. Dr. Weber has one dog, a mixed breed Lab named Sartorius, who he rescued front the island of Grenada his first year in vet school.
Dr. Kimberley Deere
Dr. Kimberley Deere has been a part time employee of Surfside Animal Hospital for the past several years. She is a native of Southern California and resides in North County San Diego with her husband and two children. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of California, Davis in 1992. Following her dream to become a Veterinarian she attended and graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in beautiful Prince Edward Island, Canada. In her free time, Dr. Deere enjoys being outside and active with her family and dog “Max.”
Dr. Blake Hilke
Dr. Blake Hilke grew up in Oceanside, California, and graduated from Vista High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from University of California, Santa Cruz with a major in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. He continued his studies at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He completed his year of Veterinary Medicine, Clinic and Surgical Education at the University of Florida. Dr. Hilke has particular interests in Cardiology, Endocrinology, and enjoys working with clients to provide the best health care for their pets. Dr. Hilke lives in Oceanside with his dog Zeke, a blonde Labrador Retriever. When he is not working he enjoys beach volleyball, tournament pool, and playing drums.
